Proto P and J

"It must be top-notch, but I don´t have the dough".

Everyone has heard that before, right? Quality has its price. We know that. And a bass (or guitar) can only be as good as the weakest link in the chain. That's why, with Hot Wire, we've been building basses from the choicest ingredients since 1999. Of course, that adds up to a lot. If that's too expensive for you, we have an alternative: Eat steak, but pay for a hamburger! How´s that?

Top-notch

We have access to (among others) Fender Mexico parts, necks, bodies, for four-string Precision and Jazz basses. Also Roasted Maple necks, and also parts for Stratocaster and Telecaster.

We combine the wooden parts with our pickups and best hardware and electronics available.

We can also fulfill your wishes! Like for example exquisite lacquer finishes. And what does it cost?

The bass pictured above was created from a customer's heartfelt wish and has a body made of basswood, lacquered in high-gloss orange. The neck is maple/rosewood, treated with tung-oil for a vintage feel. A hand-wound P pickup from Bass-Culture, with hot output. Hipshot tuners and a BadAss/Omega bridge. With these special wishes, it adds up to 1600 €, but standard model builds in sunburst have a price tag of around 998 €.
